Why Does the Marble in Your Bathroom Get Whiter the More You Clean It?

Many homes, especially modern apartments, choose natural stone like marble or large-format tiles in their bathrooms for their aesthetic appeal. Over time, however, the surface of these materials begins to develop a thin white layer, and no matter what cleaning products you use, it just won’t go away.

In fact, this isn’t just a simple cleaning issue. Due to a lack of regular maintenance, daily use of bath products and cleaning agents gradually leads to the accumulation and erosion of the stone’s surface. The presence of unreacted calcium carbonate or limescale on the stone reacts with acidic substances or contaminants in the water, resulting in the white deposits. This means that if a cleaner mistakenly believes it’s just limescale, using a strong acid may actually make the problem worse.

At Tig Five, we are committed to preserving and enhancing the value of our clients’ assets. In 2023, we found a cost-effective yet highly effective solution. This innovation allows us to restore marble surfaces without using grinding machines, and in just a few hours, the stone is refreshed. We have successfully completed numerous projects in high-end apartments in the Canary Wharf and Vauxhall areas of London. Clients only need to pay about a third of the cost of traditional restoration services, or even less. With regular maintenance, the issue won’t return.
